Manufacturing

Welcome to the Hub

From the industrialization period of the Gold Rush to the factory boom of World War II and beyond, Southern California has long been a manufacturing hub.[1] Today, manufacturing in California is a $400 billion industry that includes the production of electronics, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food products, and so much more.[2]

The Manufacturing Industry is Fully Operational

Recent policy changes are making the future of manufacturing look even better. Although the last few decades have emphasized overseas production, “Made in America” is making a comeback.

A large part of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) of 2022 is dedicated to revitalizing US manufacturing in general (and clean energy manufacturing in specific) through incentives and tax credits.[3] The landmark CHIPS Act of 2022—a $280 billion investment in semiconductor production—is a similar commitment to at-home manufacturing.[4]

Changes like these will have profound effects. In 2022, the construction of new manufacturing facilities rose by 116%.[5] And the total number of manufacturing jobs has now surpassed pre-pandemic numbers.[6]

In short, we’re entering a golden age of manufacturing in the United States—and there’s nowhere better to capitalize on this shift than the Golden State.

Build Your Business in Camarillo

With plenty of industrial real estate and a highly educated, growing workforce, Camarillo is an ideal location for both design and production. And when the final product is ready, distribution is equally simple. Our mid-sized city is connected to the rest of the country by road and rail—and to the rest of the world by air and the nearby Pacific Ocean.

For these reasons and more, Camarillo is already home to a wide range of successful manufacturing operations, including electronics fabricant Advanced Motion Controls, space communications company Lucix, and sustainable paper provider International Paper.

If you’re ready to join them, we’re ready to help. Along with federal-level incentives, manufacturers coming to Camarillo can take advantage of the local City of Camarillo Business Loan Fund, the state-sponsored California Competes Tax Credit, and countless other resources.

Together, we can make something great. And isn’t that what manufacturing is all about?
