HRL Laboratories Opens New High-Tech Facility in Camarillo

HRL Laboratories has officially opened a cutting-edge, 60,000-square-foot research and manufacturing facility here in Camarillo—a powerful signal of the city’s growing role in America’s high-tech landscape.
This expansion marks a major milestone in HRL’s mission to advance infrared (IR) hardware capabilities. The new facility integrates design, fabrication, and testing under one roof, streamlining development and strengthening the U.S. Government’s space-grade IR supply chain.
“This facility represents a major leap forward for HRL,” said Raphael Ricardo, General Manager of the Vision Systems Laboratory. “We’re streamlining development, improving efficiency, and reinforcing our commitment to excellence.”
Designed to meet AS9100 standards and future-ready for continued growth, the Camarillo site will also host HRL’s Molecular Beam Epitaxy technology—previously housed in Malibu—further cementing Camarillo’s position at the forefront of advanced semiconductor research.
With HRL’s expansion, Camarillo continues to attract innovation-driven industries and skilled talent—reinforcing its role as a dynamic hub for high-tech manufacturing and economic opportunity.
